Casablanca: Where the Atlantic Meets Art Deco

Palazzo Fiuggi has a reputation that precedes it - and for once, the reality exceeds it. Set in the hills of Lazio, an hour south of Rome, this is not a wellness hotel in the conventional sense. There are no scented candles arranged for effect and no superficial promises about transformation. What you’ll find is a medically supervised, scientifically designed retreat programme built on the straightforward conviction that the human body, given the right conditions, is extremely good at looking after itself.

In the Ribeiro region, Avandra The Longevity food line – created by three-Michelin-star chef Heinz Beck and supervised by Palazzo Fiuggi’s health and scientific team – treats every dish as medicine, measuring the nutritional properties of each recipe with the same rigour applied to the treatments. The therapeutic Fiuggi waters, drawn straight from the source, have been considered among Europe’s most restorative since Roman times, and the Roman Thermae are as divine as they sound.

The medical team is highly qualified, the treatments are evidence-led and the movement programme – from Vinyasa Flow and Pranayama Breathing to Binaural Sound Therapy – offers a broad range of practices designed to support different needs, fitness levels and wellbeing goals.

Three nights is an introduction, but for most guests, it will be the beginning off a longer conversation with your own wellbeing.

ACCOMMODATION

Royal Mansour Casablanca

For those already acquainted with Royal Mansour Marrakech, expectations will arrive carrying considerable luggage. Happily, this Atlantic-facing sibling rises to meet them.

Positioned at the heart of the city, Royal Mansour Casablanca brings the group’s signature — polished restraint, hushed competence, a level of attentiveness that feels personal rather than performed — to Casablanca’s slightly windswept energy. Rooms are generous and beautifully composed. The restaurants are worth lingering over, particularly Le Rooftop, and its views across the city.

The concierge team possess that rare gift found only in the very finest hotels: the ability to make a city feel as though it has opened especially for you. In this instance, in part, it actually has.

Your itinerary

  • Private Moroccan evening by night — an exclusive Club Avandra evening of Moroccan hospitality with Laurent-Perrier Brut, live oud music, exceptional food and cultural immersion created exclusively for this group.
  • Casablanca, properly explored — discover the city’s extraordinary layers through guided cultural experiences, from the Hassan II Mosque and Art Deco boulevards to hidden corners of the Habous district and Atlantic coastline.
  • Into the medina, properly — a four-stop street food education through Casablanca’s culinary corners, with an official guide who will introduce you to Sfendj, Msemen and babouch and leave you with the kind of knowledge that makes you insufferable at dinner parties in the very best way.

Today’s highlights

  • Private transfer from Mohammed V International Airport to Royal Mansour Casablanca
  • Time to settle in, decompress and recalibrate
  • Dinner at Le Rooftop, Royal Mansour’s flagship restaurant

Arrive into Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport where your private transfer is waiting — already a signal of intent. The drive into the city offers your first glimpse of the boulevards, the colonial architecture, the Atlantic light transforming everything it touches.

The advice today is to resist the impulse to do too much. Casablanca rewards a slower approach, and there is considerable pleasure in simply arriving at Royal Mansour and allowing the city to come to you gradually.

The evening is reserved for Le Rooftop — Royal Mansour’s flagship restaurant, where the cooking is serious and the views across Casablanca are spectacular. An ideal first night.

Today’s highlights

  • Guided street food tour through the medina — four stops, one outstanding guide, zero wrong turns
  • Afternoon and evening at leisure

The morning begins at a gentler pace, allowing time to enjoy Royal Mansour or explore independently before heading into Casablanca’s historic medina.

Later, the afternoon brings a guided street food tour through the medina with an official guide who has spent considerably longer thinking about Casablanca’s culinary identity than most food critics. Four stops covering the full register of what this city eats — Sfendj (the Moroccan doughnut that will ruin all other doughnuts permanently), Msemen (a flaky, buttery flatbread that deserves its own religion) and babouch (snail soup – sounds alarming, tastes extraordinary). A driver, vehicle and expert guide ensure the experience is seamless; the eating is entirely your own responsibility.

The afternoon and evening are entirely yours. Explore independently, rest extravagantly or do both in succession. You’re on holiday. Nobody is taking attendance.

Today’s highlights

  • Private cultural tour — the Hassan II Mosque, the corniche, the Habous district and Le Petit Paris
  • Return to Royal Mansour for lunch and preparation
  • Exclusive private Moroccan evening — Laurent-Perrier Brut, live oud and exceptional hospitality

Begin with a private cultural tour of the city proper — 3.5 hours in the company of an expert guide who will take you to the Hassan II Mosque at opening (the crowds arrive later; you will not be among them), along the corniche past the Anfa hill with its layered, complicated history, past the quietly gorgeous Notre Dame de Lourdes, through the Habous district — the French-built medina that manages to be both colonial project and architectural treasure simultaneously — and into Le Petit Paris, Casablanca’s Art Deco heart, which has been doing its thing magnificently for 90 years.

Return to Royal Mansour for lunch.

As evening falls, guests will enjoy a private cultural experience created exclusively for Club Avandra. The evening brings together some of Morocco’s most distinctive pleasures: exceptional food, music and hospitality in a setting designed to offer a deeper connection to the city and its culture.

Laurent-Perrier Brut is poured throughout, Moroccan tea arrives as the evening unfolds, and live oud music provides the soundtrack. Consider it less a performance and more an invitation into a side of Casablanca few visitors experience.

Today’s highlights

  • One final breakfast at Royal Mansour Casablanca
  • Private transfer to Mohammed V International Airport

The morning is yours and it is unhurried — Royal Mansour is not the kind of place that makes you feel rushed, and this is not the kind of trip that ends abruptly. Take breakfast, take your time, take one last look at those views.

Private transfer to Mohammed V International Airport departs when you are ready.

Casablanca will still be there when you leave. It will have been waiting for centuries. It can manage without you for a while, though frankly — and we say this with considerable confidence — you will find it considerably harder to manage without it.
